Joining the Banbury Sub-Aqua Club.
As you are on this page it may suggest
you are thinking of joining us!!
So how do you go about it?
You can either contact our Membership Secretary or pop down to the club at the New Spiceball Leisure Centre on any Thursday night and have a chat with some of the members.
We do classroom theory lessons and pool training on a Thursday night and do open water training at Stoney Cove or the Ocean. We provide the equipment you need to get going and the support from both instructors and experienced divers.
We accept divers from any organisation i.e. Padi and offer a
number of cross over courses.
Below you will find answers to some common questions:
Can I learn to dive with you?
Bansac offers training throughout the year to teach you the basics of diving. We hold theory sessions, practical sessions in the pool and open water sessions in Stoney Cove and in the sea. We provide the equipment you need to get going and the support from both instructors and experienced divers.
I am already a qualified diver but would like to join a club?
Many people learnt to dive whilst travelling or on holiday but are unable to continue as they do not have friends who want to carry on with them. The club provides training for you to continue your learning and plenty of people to dive with and extend your experience.
I am an experienced diver looking for a club, is this club for me?
The Banbury Sub-Aqua Club is full of energetic members and there is always something going on at the club, from talks from guest speakers, dive trips local & abroad, day dashes to the coast, training and a whole host of social activities.
The club is also well equipped with our own a compressor, dive gear and a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat). Air fills are provided free of charge to club members, a massive saving if you dive regularly and the club boat (Ginge One). Ginge One is used for various trip around the UK from as far north as Sound of Mull and all the way down to Cornwall as well as anywhere in between. We have many Instructors within the club as well as some National Instructors, so there is masses of room to progress your diving with us. Due to our members we can also offer Navigational, Boat handling, Chart work, Photography and a host of other courses within the club, again saving you money.
Can I learn to dive with my kids?
Children can start to dive from the age of 12. We have welcomed quite a few children into the club with their parents to learn to dive. Having said that we would recommend that you ensure your child is really confident in water first. To this end we recommended that you first make sure your child can snorkel comfortably.
I would like to dive but my partner is not interested, what can I do?
Many people join the club and learn to dive with their partner but some people do not want to dive, we have no idea why not! If this is the case why not consider encouraging your partner to become a social member (i.e. a non diving member). This means that bar actually diving you are a member of the club with access to the pool every Thursday for swimming and, of course, all the social events held by the club. But of course you don't need a partner to join!
I am not 100% sure if diving is for me but I would like to give it a go?
Many people are not sure if they will really enjoy the diving experience. That is why we offer "TRY DIVES" on any club night. Why not book yourself in and just give diving a go in the safety of the swimming pool. Sessions are £10 each and you will be taken in the pool by an experienced instructor who will introduce you in a very controlled way to the underwater world.
