More About who we are, what we do, when and where...
Who are we?
Despite living about as far from the sea as possible we are a group of keen but friendly divers. We are a very well established BSAC branch with a long history and currently have a membership of around 65 - 75 members. Members come from all sorts of backgrounds and ages and their experience ranges from complete beginners to decades of diving experience. Although based in Banbury members come from both Banbury and a wide surrounding area.
What do we do?
Diving
Snorkelling and swimming
Socials
Training
What facilities do we have?
We are based at the Spiceball centre where we have an equipment room which houses our compressor. We also have a boat house which, as the name suggests is where our boat, "Ginge One" lives. Click here to find out more about the equipment and boat
When and where do we meet?
We hold our Club night on Thursday evenings when we have exclusive use of the pool at the Spiceball Centre between 9pm and 10pm. After that we meet in the bar although there will, almost certainly, be people in the bar well before the pool finishes! At 10.30pm we have "the shoat" which is an opportunity to learn about forthcoming trips, social events or any other notices.
How are we administered?
The club is run by a voluntary committee made up of officers who are responsible for different aspects of the club. A couple of the positions are only available to divers of a certain qualification level but most are open to all members. Please see contacts to see who currently holds these positions and how to contact them. The committee meets every month on the first Tuesday, 7.30pm at the Plough, Adderbury. If you would like to raise an issue please talk to the relevant committee member or the chairman before that meeting. The committee is elected at the AGM, which takes place in October each year. If you would like to join the committee nominations are collected in the weeks leading up to the AGM. The club is funded by membership subscriptions, fundraising events and last year we received a boost with a grant from the National Lottery to buy some new equipment and develop the club.
