Banbury Sub-Aqua Clubs Facilities

Bansac as a club is very well established and has a full range of facilities.

These facilities include:

  • Brand new lecture room.
  • Compressor.
  • Compressor and Kit room.
  • Training kit.
  • Pool.
  • Boat house.
  • 7 meter RIB (Rigid inflatable boat)
  • Full access for disabled members (training venues & pool)

In December of 2009 we moved over to the new Spiceball Leisure Centre and we have benefited from all of our training facilities being brand new and modern. Our lecture room can seat 25 people comfortably and has full presentation facilities such as screen and projector. this room also doubles as our guest speaker room as we usually have a guest speaker once a month doing talks on various subjects.

The club has its own compressor giving free air fills to club members. Our compressor under goes annual services as well as the routine air tests for quality and regular filter changes.

Our Compressor and kit room is houses the compressor, a small amount of training kit and cylinders. The room is located pool side giving direct access to the pool, making carry of gear to and from the pool a breeze.

All kit required for training is provided by the club making it very cheap to enjoy the many benefits of Scuba Diving, club atmosphere and progress your diving career. All kit is free to students until they have successfully qualified as Ocean Divers. Once qualified there is a small fee for individual items. Usually by this stage most people have started to acquire their own kit.

We have access to the pool at Spiceball on Thursday evenings between 9-10pm. The pool is divided into different sections and allows for student training, practicing of skills and for members who like to keep in shape by doing a few lengths of the pool. From time to time we also have a game of Octo-push (under water hockey). The pool is also used to "Try Dives" as well as local Scouts, Guides and school groups who would like to give scuba diving a bash!

We have our own Boat house in the centre of Banbury. As the name suggests this is where we keep out boat, Ginge One. The boat house is also used for the storage of excess kit and other diving related goods.

Ginge One is the clubs RIB. She can comfortably take eight divers and kit to many of the UK's best dive sites or wrecks. Ginge One is fully fitted navigational system and boat to coast radio system. Ginge One is towed all round the UK on annual dive trips from Cornwall to Scotland.

As Spiceball is a new, modern building all the required facilities for disabled people are in place from disabled parking spaces, lifts, ramps, and pool entry points we can accommodate disabled people giving them the chance to experience our fantastic world below the water's surface.
